Expedition
The New Moon Cooperative begins venturing out into lands lost to the Shaper incursion.
In the aftermath of the Shaper War, the New Moon Co-Operative was in dire straights. Having taken the brunt of the Shaper advance, and poured most of it’s resources into Exodus ships to evacuate it’s population, the NMC fleets and financial reserves were depleted to the point of near non-existence. Furthermore, the political situation had become very unstable, with the entire male line of the ruling house, De Veers, being wiped out bar the King himself, who had come to throne following the death of his father against the Shaper threat. Even the holdings that remained under NMC control were devastated, the population sent into a mixture of bunkers, fortresses, and the wilds of the planets themselves in order to limit civilian death. The first major action undertaken by the NMC was to properly scout the level of the damage done to their former holdings. Scout parties were sent to Anisah, Talvugaris, Groa, and Viggis, all of which had been core worlds supporting Jagrati before the Shaper War. While some scouting reports came back from these places, the most interesting result came from Viggis. While the planet itself was in a state of anarchy, contact was made with a small community of creatures as yet undiscovered by the NMC. After a brief skirmish with predators in the tunnels which these “Geons” made their home, a representative joined the scouts on their return to Jagrati. After short discussion with the council, a trade agreement was reached, where friendly terms were achieved, along with a trade deal for valuable minerals that were predominant in the Geon tunnels. Meanwhile, on Anisah a detachment of the Marines were joined by a specialist from Jagrati Research and Special Projects (RaSP) to return the planet to normal functioning. Some skirmishing with the local fauna followed the restoration of the former capital, and the recovery of the citizens from their panic bunker, along with the town key. This was followed by the restoration of a planetary fortress, where the children of the town had been sheltered. Unfortunately, the adults of the town had attempted to survive outside the town walls in order to reduce the supply demands on the fortress itself, and had suffered many casualties. However, the planet was soon restored to full functioning, and the support it provided proved vital to the subsequent restoration efforts.
