Piggen Schism

Political event

Following the end of the Helldiver War, the Piggen find themselves at conflict with one another.

The Dephos Piggen, now leaderless with the death of Varl held a karultai, where a new leader would be chosen. The frontrunners- and only true contenders of note- were Stonetusk, and another named Vincheris, known as the wonder worker, who made the deserts outside the city bloom with vegetation.   A council meeting raged for days, a stanch divide known between those who would want to advance with technology, and those who believed the old, longform ways were key to maintaining the Piggen virtues.   The meeting was eventually called, and a duel was held to third blood. Stonetusk narrowly carried the victory, and was installed as the leader of the city, though without the full support of many.   This led to an insurrection within the city, as traditionalist forces, egged on by Vincheris, cached weapons, disrupted food distribution points, and eventually emptied city stocks- fleeing into the desert. They would return several times to raid the edges of the settlement, despite being tracked down by Herb Neiu Rotterdam and pledging not to anymore.   Their settlement was visited by Silvano Mazzio after the most egregious attack, where landmines were sown in the Delphos fields to injure farmers and ruin irrigation. A demo charge, and teleport attack ended the life of the traditionalist piggen leader. A vote was called, and it was determined the traditionalists had broken their promises too many times to be trusted- the survivors were put to the sword by the Task Force Phoenix Owl Squad.
