Military action
The Fleshshaper arrive above Acastus.
As the dim pulsar breaks the horizon of Acastus, the Grey Fleet bolstered by Governor Seung and Ad-Astra reinforcements maintains a defensive position between the fungal planet and the edge of the system. However all of these combat ships are dwarfed by the massive Slyth titan of a battleship, the Veles, as it breaks from its holding position behind Acastus' third moon. The defense strategy had been discussed and solidified, the only thing left to do was wait for the impending invasion to begin. As the Shaper host entered the Acastus gravity well, it looked to be only a pair of battleship, this was not the massive movement that had been detected on long range scanners. And then it appeared. A monstrosity that was equal in size to any one of Acastus' three moons leaves the Metadimensional spike route and shunts into visibile space. Tendrils float off of it like a massive octopus writhing and wriggling in the void. Governor Seung with Agent Kelvin Bell and the Red Sangha contingent speed to meet one of the Shaper battleships head on before it can reach Acastus orbit. Blows are exchanged and Governor Whitaker's ship is badly damaged initially but he is able to keep his ship afloat long enough for Red Sangha Patrol Boats and Greystar Corvettes to inflict massive damage on the fleshy monstrosity. Meanwhile the Veles, captained by Agent Svenka Vilnovha with CIS Marshall Dorian Guerra manning the guns, accompanied by the lone Greystar Cruiser and Ad-Astra squadron fly headlong into the path of the battle moon that was quickly approaching the planet. Through deft piloting and advanced Slyth technology, the ships of the battlegroup fair much better against the Shaper incursion. Chunks of the moon fall off as it sustains tremendous damage but not enough to slow its advance. That is until a cruiser slams into the opening created by one of these missing chunks. Just moments earlier, Governor Seung's cruiser took critical damage. His ship's AI, Agata, made some quick calculations and determined that a well place strike, in the form of a massive ship, could potentially crack open the battle moon. As his ship speeds across the system, Governor Seung sends out what he thinks will be his final message, “I don’t know if I’ll survive the landing, but if I do I’ll do what I can on the surface. If I don’t please make sure that you kill all these creatures and survive, make sure that those on Acastus are another day, make sure there can still be hope that humanity and it’s allies can survive. If you can hear me I don’t think I have much time left but make sure that my death is told to Gunnar who will now be running WS, and tell Ivanna I love her.” As the remaining ships of the Acastus Defense Fleet race to the moon monstrosity, the battle only increases in ferocity. Torpedoes are traded and lives are lost. Governor Seung managed to survive the crash and make his way to the brain-like structure of the moon. Being assaulted from within and without, the moon finally breaks apart and is no longer a threat to those in space. The day is won and the defenders can take a brief moment to catch their breath... Or so they thought. Alarms on the planet were going off and being sent to the fleet in orbit as a tendril of the moon managed to make landfall 1000km from Ash City. The Shapers were not quite done with their assault...
