UNW operatives confront The Still Lady on Acastus

For several months, the rebels on Acastus had requested assistance in destroying the breaker gun and orbital defense complex on planet so a liberation fleet from the United Nation of Worlds could land, and assist without being cut to pieces.   Dax, Hailey. Billy, and Desmond returned to the planet where so many other heroes had fallen to assist with the attack.   Using makeshift rocket batteries mounted to trucks, and a proper artillery piece provided by Dax, a long preliminary bombardment broke the walls of the citadel open. Hailey and Billy were instrumental in slaying the armored counter-attack sent out before it cleared the fortress gatehouse.   Desmond, taking cover in the wreckage assisted dozens of rebel riflemen with suppressing heavy weapon teams, while Dax and his PABE eliminated the guards around a postern gate that was free of enough rubble to allow them inside.   It was as the blast doors opened that The Changeling, one of The Still Lady's magisters, appeared, six blade arms extending from his biomechanical body.   A fight broke out, though he was ineffective at harming the group very much.   It was upon his death that The Still Lady herself manifested- and Desmond knew what he had to do.   Detonating two grenades, and then firing his laser rifle into her very heart as many times as he could, he inflicted great pain upon her. Cut by magical blades, shot, cut, and finally, her pyramid itself leveled by commandeering and depressing the planet's orbital defense guns, she was banished- though not before using her powers in one final act of malice.   Desmond was not able to fight the inexorable tide of organ failure she cast upon him. His friends, unable to treat him in the field, could only give him peace, and ensure his body was buried properly.
