Zestrium

This mineral was first discovered by a Greystar Confederation researcher in November 2667. It was found on the planet Jahnavi in a mountain range just south of the only surviving Red Sangha city there.   It is very lightweight and polishes easily. It seems to fracture in very even planes when large segments of the mineral are analyzed a few places where a chisel could slice through it like it was made of bread are identified.   It is currently awaiting a proper material analysis before further mining or processing efforts are made. Results on this came back in early 2669 and its similar properties to Electrum made it an equivalent competitor to the wonder metal the UNW had a virtual stranglehold on.   A deposit of this metal was also later found by a prospecting expedition on a sweep of the planet Danae, where Greystar Confederation development officials wasted no time establishing a production center and employing the locals to work the rich vein.   A materials Study conducted in June of 2669 by Greystar Agent Obsidia Sharpshot revealed some new properties about the wonder-metal.    Zestrium has a high crush point far beyond most other industrial metals. It resists cutting about as well as steel. It is conductive of both energy and psionic energy, but less efficiently that materials in use by industry already that are available in far larger quantities. Putting her Geon physiology to the test, when ingested the material tastes like freshly zested lemon.
