Race Mechanics https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/ys65yO1Mf   Named for the atoll on the oceanic planet Terezinho where their enclaves were first created, the uplifted primate species known as the Utans were brought into the Iron Stars in March of 2668, just a few years after the events of The Scream. These uplifted creatures missed the events of The Scream, the Fleshshaper Incursion, and the brushfire wars that occurred before, during, and after those times.   Although wise with their own animal cunning and honed instincts, they remain a new and largely innocent player on the galactic stage.   Characteristics Most Utan have bright neon pelts of fur known to variate in all manner of colors. This coloring helped them blend in to the rich coral and reef jungles of their homeworld, and are spectacular to look at.   Now able to stand upright, Utans none the less have a slight forward lean, and will still run with the use of their powerful arms when covering large amounts of ground is necessary.   Utan live about as long as humans now, expecting a natural lifetime of 60-100 years. They are capable of mounting cyberware, and are capable of fully articulate intelligent speech.     Playing a Utan Utan have a natural wisdom score of 14. If wisdom is the class attribute for the character, it may be elevated to a 16.   Utans are natural survivalists and are able to mitigate or remove one hazardous condition from their environment that is not related to the atmosphere at GM discretion. Some factors are simply too hellish for their natural knowledge to overcome.   Utan may also move 20m as a move action, their powerful muscles carrying them beyond a normal humanoid overland speed. They are not slowed by rough terrain, and their movement is not penalized when climbing or descending obstacles- though distance traveled still counts against the player's remaining move. Their move action likewise cannot be split in keeping with existing movement rules, even if climbing or descending.     As naive creatures never before seen on the galactic stage, Utan take a -2 on all intelligence checks related as the galaxy and its wonders are entirely new for any of those adventuring. Recalling information they've never been exposed to is entirely beyond even their impeccable common sense.   Magic and MES   Psionic and magic using Utan are natural extensions of their newfound intelligence and existing animal cunning and thus players may take psychic or magical classes.
