Prandonite

Prandonite was first found by Elysium Protectorate explorer Valentina Spiros on the planet Chloe. Not just a first in the material sciences for the protectorate, Ms. Spiros is also the first Taros credited with making a major material science discovery on a new world.    Prandonite is a 5 on the hardness scale, scratched deeply by a piece of Feldspar. It has a melting point of 1670 C, just a few degrees centigrade above what it takes to melt titanium. It cuts evenly when pressure is applied with a blade and can be made into jewelry that sparkles like golden diamond when in its raw state.    Alloyed with steel, it vastly improves the quality of the metal by making it resistant to carbon buildup, scratch resistant, and more is left behind when used as welding flux allowing for much stronger welds to be made with it.    It is easy to machine when alloyed and pressed into sheets, and could be made into armored scales, stamping parts, and dozens of other industrial applications.
