Nullbird

First encountered on Saliv by Joss Wells, Nullbirds are large flightless carnivorous birds found in the forests and grasslands. New to Saliv, Nullbirds appeared some time after the events of the Great Breach on the day of The Scream.   They range in height from 1-3 Meters and possess a large, sharp beak, a powerful neck and sharp talons. The large curved beak is thought to be used to crush and tear flesh from prey. Nullbirds can reach speeds up to 50 KPH in a straight line but have trouble maintaining these speeds while turning. Nullbirds seem to be intelligent creatures comparable to a Terran horse and domestication efforts have begun for use equivalent to the Terran horse.   Eggs are a little under 1 meter in height and are off white with varying colored specks throughout. Nullchicks are covered with a yellow-red plume and are very friendly albeit timid. They cannot hunt themselves and thus rely upon parental figures to supply them food. Nullbirds reach maturity in 2-3 years and are believed to live up to 30 years.   The Nullbirds call is a strange mix of honks, hisses, and chirps. Their diet is believed to be a mix of small rodents and medium sized prey animals. When prey is spotted Nullbirds charge their prey and if small enough swallow them whole, if not they use their large beak to strike and crush the bones of animals.
