Metánový Vták

The Metanovy Vtak is a flightless bird found only on the planet Saliv. This creature is large, about the size of a terran cow, and despite being bird-like does not have wings capable of flight. These creatures have either fur or very very fine down like feathers but explorers have not been able to get close enough to one to determine which of the two it is yet.   Metanovy Vtak are found close to the methane shores and have been seen watering themselves with the freezing liquid and look to be entirely undisturbed by the experience. Their meat is edible and there has been evidence of Termies hunting these creatures.   Metanovy Vtak were first documented by an exploration team of Ana "Starluck" Acantha, Hemon "Goblin" Tox, Dalibor Uclaiv, and a hired assistant called Atzou.   In June of 2670, Alliance scout Xiloco spent some time observing the creatures and was able to learn more about them.   The Metánový Vták reproduce by laying clutches of eggs in the late spring. These eggs hatch during the early summer and consist of broods of between three and five chicks. The behavior of the mothers suggests there is a second breeding season in late summer with an early fall hatch, but this has not been confirmed.   These creatures eat grasses, bugs, small rodents, seeds, and any other opportunistic scource of fiber and protein they come across. They prefer hydration via water, but can subsist for short times off the liquid methane seas of Saliv.
