  Menoon is a system consisting of a yellow star, a barren planet with a single barren moon, and a formerly inhabited planet with a tempestuous ocean moon orbiting it. This system lacks a gas giant but is on the trailing edge of a large nebula where the gas concentration could be used as an alternative scooped fuel for ships.   The inhabited planet is a tomb world now and it looks as though The Scream caused some kind of terminal cascade of events that snuffed life from the planet's surface and seeded the air with ion storms and large super cells of nuclear fallout. Cities have been reduced to ruin, the countrysides are rolling hills of scorched black grass and exposed stone, and the few desert regions are now monuments of glass. The oceans are in a state of slowly boiling away, and nothing seems to be able to stop the now self sustaining terminal climate reaction.   It is unknown what type of civilization lived here before or who they might have sworn alliegence to.   In March 2670 a Greystar Confederation scouting expedition surveyed the planet and discovered a mine. Inside, a mysterious substance that reacts to light and pressure turned all the miners there into crystal growths. Samples were returned to the polity for further study.
