  The Maladi system consists of a yellow star, an inhabited temperate world covered in thick forests with a barren moon, and a gas giant at the edge of the system. Life on the inhabited world has fallen from frontier post-tech to Dark Age technology with armored men on horseback fighting with lances against men on foot and archers. The world has descended into a patchwork of fiefdoms and fortress cities and their fall began prior to The Scream judging by orbital scans showing the footprints of the planet's few large cities.  

ForrestSeat

Forestseat has its name, in a twist no one could have possibly expected, because of the dense forests that surround the settled area. Some land has been cleared for the agriculture and ranching one would expect to support a settlement of this size but the overwhelming majority of the land around the fortress city is dense woods. Patrols are frequently sent there to accompany loggers, foragers, hunters, and others who need access to the forests.   Mounted Yeomen and Men at Arms commonly make up this escort wearing the colors of the city watch.
