Background
The Geon are an old race. They have gone through the cycle of technological apex, and fall into stone age like conditions several times during their stellar life cycle as a species.
They are found on many worlds, living deep within the mantle and sometimes even lower. On some worlds, where conditions are hellish enough to thwart most other organic life it is sometimes common to see Geon settlements on the surface.
Their bodies are incredibly tough and they are able to gain nourishment from the very rock of the world when traditional foodstuffs are not available.
Geon are small, often times less than 1.5m, though the most hulking of their warriors can match a human in size- and certainly more than that in bulk.
Geon are likewise very strong, able to lift and carry easily several times their own weight.
Modern Geon
Geon are found on many worlds and therefore run the spectrum between technological savant, and complete Luddite when it comes to interacting with many of the tools and equipment in Stars Without Number. Emerging Geon take care to allow room to experiment with their understanding of the world especially those coming from lower tech backgrounds.
Geon names are often based on minerals common to their world, with a surname based off of some significant deed the Geon has accomplished. Their culture is close knit and even something trivial in merit to other races is something the Geon may celebrate among their own communities.
The continual rise and fall of Geon society has created a cultural shift towards valuing the family and clan unit, as the bonds of lineage are the only things proven to the Geon to be capable of standing the tests of time. Most actions are done through the lens of the good of the community.
Geon, Psionics, and Magic
Geon are MES sensitive, though the incidence of such is far fewer in their race than it is in humans. Those with MES sensitivity are often treated with a healthy level of respect, be it through fear in some communities, or reverence for the skills they bring to the collective in others.
Exile or execution are considered the most serious of capital punishments even for a criminal, and thus it is almost unheard of for even a psychic to be sent away from their clan.
