The planet is ruled by an enclave of the Jesuit monastic order.   A terraform failure caused by The Scream caused a soil infection, that also gave rise to an immensely powerful psychic known as The Viceroy. The soil infection found a way to transfer into humans, subverting their own will to that of The Viceroy who was able to telepathically influence them.   A brutal war between The Viceroy and the Catholic Church broke out on the planet, as the tiger striping soil infection marched on. Much of the planet's farmland is ruined, though efforts are being made to try to draw out the contagion.   The Viceroy was killed by Eisheru Tidecaller, and with a mix of gratitude, and grim acceptance of there being no other way to keep their world alive, the Jesuits here agreed to join the Greystar Confederacy.   In March 2670, the Greystar Confederation completed an expansive public education project on Buey, turning the planet into one of the most advanced centers of learning in the Iron Stars.   In March of 2671 the planetary administative Ai was repaired and brought back online. This system was discovered earlier in the planet's history as part of Greystar, though left dormant due to the high pretech component and other resource demands. Now under the administration of the BueyAi project, the planet has become a hub of growth, efficient trade, and seemless planning. The citizens here are some of the first to enjoy a Peerless quality of life.   Buey has several settlements on it, and they are described below.

Christchurch Shipyard

- The shipyard itself is mostly here, though the major buildings have been all but ripped out of the ground and dragged into orbit. Reconstruction of more modest support facilities and factories on the ground to ship parts into space is ongoing and will be replacing the actual shipyard itself. As for the town, it is largely unchanged though seems emptier, with most of the direct shipworkers and workers in amenities immediately supporting them now living on the space hab to be closer to their planet's main industry.

St. Elmo's Lighthouse

- In earlier days, St. Elmo's lighthouse was a settlement formed around a very tall lighthouse meant to guide deep water ships into port or around the rocky shoals that dot the area of the important sea crossing. Generations of sailors have owed their lives to the lighthouse keepers, and that continues as sailors now traverse both the sea and the stars. Still performing its maritime navigation duties, St. Elmo's also coordinates the space traffic, system defense, and finer details of Buey's shipbuilding process. The lighthouse keepers and their families, along with the general townsfolk are some of the better off on this planet and were spared much of the violence of the war against the Fungal Viceroy.

The Abbey of St. Cuthbert

- is the ruling seat of Buey and it is from here that the Jesuit rulers of the world and their Head Abbot manage the affairs of Buey, and act as liaison between the inhabitants of the planet and the wider Greystar Confederation of which they are a part. The city is named after the great Northumbrian saint from Old Earth's history regarded as a symbol of healing and reconciliation.   The Abbey is both a specific building at the heart of the sprawling city, and the city itself. The city consists of a small airport on its eastern side where flights and shuttlecraft from space set down, blocks upon blocks of civilain housing, the largest military base on the planet hosting the majority of the planet's garrison and training facilities, and a cultural site known as the Pilgrim's Path. This path is an unbroken line of white stones leading from the center of the city where the Abbey is located, twisting and turning through the streets to stop at houses of worship of every religion on the planet. Inns and eateries along the way offer free meals and board to pilgrims passing through the area to make their observances.   A large office district coordinates the activities of the factories across the planet and the shipyard in space, cementing the partnership between the domestic shipbuilders of Buey, and Aiya Tech, their partner.
