BTR-150

The BTR-150 is a ground-truck design developed for military and civil defense purposes by the Communist Brotherhood of Stellar States.   The design was developed post-Scream by Samara Heavy Industries on Pelasgon using frontier post-tech resources designed to be produced en masse, simple enough for the crew to repair all but the most grievous damage in the field, and adaptable enough for variants to be quickly concocted as situations demand. The first of these models rolled off the assembly line in Y5M10 and were first offered to CBSS Special forces. Some have found their way into civil defense forces on the capital world and an export model to other worlds in the CBSS polity has started circulating though they are a rare sight outside Pelasgon.   The most common BTR-150 design features a single heavy machine gun for defensive purposes, along with thick armor and an extended crew compartment to allow carrying a full squad of soldiers and their equipment. In combat, the dismounted infantry augment the firepower of the vehicle. Other models such as firefighting where the machine gun and infantry compartment has been replaced with a high pressure fire hose and water tank, ambulance models for remote areas without roads, and even an anti-air variant mounting a hydra array have all cleared the protype stage and are expecting to enter service soon.
