Bloodsprouts
Bloodsprouts grow in iron rich soil and are a favorite food of Piggen everywhere. It is a Piggen folktale that they often grow best in places where battles were once conducted, literally taking nutrients from the blood of those losing their lives there.
They have a bitter taste, but are nutritious and often times are sliced before being added to stews or soups. Bloodsprouts can be eaten raw but taste best when cooked.
