  Benavides is the site of a historic battle where a multi polity coalition fought the Shaper incursion to a standstill. Fierce combat on the ground and in space has littered both with wreckage, unmarked graves, and has left the system locked halfway between devastation and recovery.   The planet is evenly split between the lifeless mass sacrificial desert sites of the Shaper host, and the flourishing forest communities where New Moon Cooperative settlers try to rebuild what was lost.   Locals have reported trouble with wildlife, as the invasion has played havoc with some of the workings of the natural laws.   In May 2669, A million Noctua refugees rescued by Cicero Yamado were able to limp their heavily damaged exodus ship to the planet, and began settling on its surface.
