  Ankuiq is a small system with a cold blue sun, a gas giant, and a planet with no moon at the very edge of the habitable belt. Although the planet is re-mastering the basics of space flight, wireless communications, and the basics of fusion power once again in this post-scream era , it is still behind many others in civilized space in several quality of life areas.    Intercepted transmissions show this planet still considerers itself part of the Tenebrian Empire even though there is nothing left of the former galactic hegemon. A military junta has control over the political will of the planet, and allow the populace only a very short set of liberties.   In mid 2667 the efforts of Protectorate agent Rayce Stardust and a contingent of anti-junta fighters among the population were able to start a movement, and convince the junta to begin transitioning toward a civilian led government. The Protectorate soon expanded to the planet in order to maintain law and order while the transitional government determined how it best wanted to rule.

Hemloch

Hemlock is an industrial city where everything is powered and heated via direct thermal tap to geothermal vents directly below the settlement. Most of the heat is funneled to homes and businesses. Excess is used for a small but growing recreation industry in the peaks of the city where snow and ice are boiled away for hot springs and mineral baths in the rich mountain rocks. The city is informally known as the City of Murals, as several local street artists protested the junta and its cruelties with emotional murals painted in hard to remove places.
