During the Great Rebellion, the younger dragons rebelled against the ancient dragons of old. The following 230 years was a period a great turmoil as many dragons was slain and the Dragonian Empire was fractured until almost nothing was left. Ultheera, the last of the great dragons, reclaimed Mount Calteria - ancestral home of the dragons - by slaying Bonebreaker, thus becoming the leader of the remnants of the Dragonian Empire. Ultheera formed the Kingdom of Calteria as she united the surviving dragonians under her rule.

During the Great Rebellion, Baderious the Black Dread roamed in the southern lands of Iromar, which is now associated with the Empire of Storvia. A legendary knight of the Silver Knights, Godfrey the Great, managed to unite the disorganized people and march on the lair of Baderious at the mouth of the river Carr. The battle that followed was catastrophic for the humans and many lives were lost, but just as the battle seemed over then Godfrey took his trusty sword, Dragonslayer, and cut off the head of Baderious thus ending his tyrannical rule.
The last of the Great Dragons, Ultheera, formed a mighty army consisting of the remnants of the dragonian clans and marched on Calteria to remove Arugash the Bonebreaker from his rule.
Rodulf the Unifer, son of Godfrey the Great, was crowned Emperor in the new capital of Carrano. Before the coronation, Rodulf had established domain over the lands from Grimmere to Willingwe through diplomacy and ruthless cunning, which enabled him to found the empire and claim that the rule of the Dragonian Empire was over.
A scholar of Carrano released a controversial chronicle of the events that led to the Great Rebellion and the destruction of the Dragonian Empire. The chronicle highlights the unstable nature of the Old Empire and the vanity expressed by so many dragons that it lead to their decline. Two brothers (one silver, one green) are frequently mentioned in the chronicle as it describes their exceedingly destructive competition and the consequences for the people that got too close. The first few months of the year of 2381 was quite troublesome. Some of most ambitious and powerful wizards of the Ganzhouvian City-states gathered in the city of Quzhou in order to perform a ritual that would grant incredible powers to the gathered wizards. However, the wizards had been tricked by Asmodeus, the ruler of the Nine Hells, and they accidentally opened a rift to Nessus (the Ninth realm of Hell). Before the wizards were able to close the rift again, several demons had been released into the Material Plane and a terrible corruption were released that turned many elvish inhabitants of Quzhou into infernal Thieflings.
