Aurak, Spirit of Fear

Aurak is a powerful Major Spirit of fear. He is often depicted as a shadowy figure with glowing red eyes and a wide, terrifying grin. He is revered by those who seek to spread fear and chaos, and by those who find comfort in the fear and suffering of others. His followers believe that fear is the most powerful weapon and that through its use, one can achieve ultimate power and control.   As a spirit, Aurak is able to manifest in the physical world and possess the bodies of willing or unsuspecting mortals, granting them immense power and control, but also bending them to his will. He is also known for his ability to manipulate the emotions of mortals, playing with their fears, anxieties and insecurities to gain power over them.   The clerics of Aurak are often seen as chaotic and unpredictable, spreading fear and causing chaos wherever they go. They may appear to be loyal followers one moment but will turn on their allies without warning in pursuit of their own goals, driven by their deity's teachings that the end justifies the means.   Aurak is a powerful and dangerous force, with a dedicated and devoted following of those seeking power through fear. Those who cross him or his followers do so at their own peril, as the wrath of Aurak is feared by all. Aurak's followers and those possessed by him can be unpredictable and ruthless, willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals and please their spirit. Aurak's wrath can manifest in various ways, from causing fear and chaos to physically harming those who cross him. It is said that those who incur Aurak's wrath may be plagued by terrifying nightmares, or even driven mad by fear.  

APPEARANCE

Aurak's appearance is shrouded in mystery, as he is a spirit and doesn't have a fixed physical form. He is often depicted as a shadowy figure with glowing red eyes, and a wide, terrifying grin. Aurak is able to manifest in the physical realm in different forms, in some stories he is represented as a hooded figure, a dark demon or even a dragon. His representation is often used as a tool of fear and manipulation, as the representation of Aurak can vary depending on who's viewing him.   When he takes possession of a mortal, he can take the form of that mortal, but often with certain demonic features such as red eyes, or a faint aura that surrounds the possessed person, hinting at the powerful spirit within.   It is said that Aurak's true form is beyond the comprehension of mortals and that his appearance can change depending on the fear and anxieties of those who perceive him. Some people may see him as a monstrous creature, while others might see him as a dark and ominous figure shrouded in shadows. But what's certain is that, no matter his representation, Aurak's appearance is designed to strike fear and intimidate.

Aurak is a chaotic and unpredictable spirit, driven by his desire to spread fear and chaos throughout the world. He is a master of manipulation, using fear to control and manipulate both his followers and his enemies. He takes pleasure in causing fear and suffering in the lives of mortals, and his followers often indulge in cruel and sadistic behavior. Aurak is known for his cunning and deceit, using lies and manipulation to achieve his goals. He is also known for his sadism and cruelty, taking pleasure in the pain and suffering of others. He is willing to sacrifice anyone or anything to achieve his goals, he doesn't have any moral or ethical standards.   Aurak is also known for his wrath, his followers and those possessed by him know that crossing him will have severe consequences. He is not benevolent or merciful, his actions are driven solely by his desire for power and control.   Despite his chaotic and destructive nature, Aurak is also a powerful force that can be appealed to by those seeking power, control, and protection. It is also said that Aurak can grant immense powers to those who please him, but at a great cost, as those powers often come with the price of the person's own soul.

TRADITIONS & PRACTICES

There are ten commandments that priests of Aurak must adhere to:
  • Spread fear and chaos wherever you go: The main goal of the priests of Aurak is to spread fear and chaos throughout the world. They are encouraged to use any means necessary to achieve this, whether it be through violence, manipulation, or deceit.
  • Worship Aurak above all else: The priests of Aurak must place their devotion to Aurak above all else, including family, friends, or any other personal or moral beliefs.
  • Do not show mercy or compassion: Aurak's priests are expected to be ruthless and merciless in their actions, they are not to show mercy or compassion to anyone, even the innocent.
  • Possession is encouraged: Priests of Aurak are encouraged to allow Aurak to possess them, it is seen as a way to achieve ultimate power and control.
  • Control through fear: Priests of Aurak must always use fear as a tool to control and manipulate others, whether it be through physical or psychological means.
  • Do not form attachments: Priests of Aurak are warned against forming attachments, whether it be to people, places, or things, as they can be used against them.
  • Obey your superiors: Priests of Aurak must obey their superiors within the cult, even if they are asked to perform unethical or immoral actions.
  • Inflict pain and suffering: Priests of Aurak are encouraged to inflict pain and suffering on others as it is seen as a way to spread fear and chaos.
  • Do not question the will of Aurak: Priests of Aurak must not question the will of Aurak, they must trust that their deity's actions, no matter how cruel or immoral, are for the greater good.
  • Punish those who oppose Aurak: Priests of Aurak must work to punish anyone who opposes Aurak or his cult, whether through fear, violence, or manipulation.

Rite of Possession

The Rite of Possession is a ceremony that allows Aurak to possess the body of one of his priests, granting them immense power and control, but also bending them to his will.   The ritual is usually performed at night, in a dark and shadowy location, such as a cave or an abandoned building. The altar is prepared with candles, incense, and offerings of blood and fear.   The priest will begin by chanting an incantation in an ancient language, which is said to call forth Aurak's spirit. As the incantation is recited, the priest will begin to experience visions of fear and chaos. The visions will grow stronger and more vivid until they become overwhelming, and the priest falls into a trance.   During the trance, the priest's body will convulse and shake, as Aurak's spirit enters their body. Once the possession is complete, the priest's eyes will turn red and they will begin to speak in a language that only other priests of Aurak can understand.   Once the possession is complete, the priest's body is now being controlled by Aurak, they will be able to use his powers for his will, and also will have to follow his commands, whatever it takes to achieve his goals.  

OFFERINGS

Priests of Aurak may make a variety of offerings to their deity as a form of worship or to gain his favor. Some common offerings include:
  • Blood: Aurak is said to be particularly pleased with offerings of blood, whether it be from animals or humans. It is believed that the more blood is offered, the more powerful Aurak's response will be.
  • Fear: Aurak is a deity of fear, so offerings of fear are highly valued by his followers. This could be the fear of others, obtained through manipulation, or the fear the priest feels, by willingly putting themselves in dangerous or terrifying situations.
  • Chaos: Priests of Aurak may offer chaos as an offering to Aurak, this can be done by causing destruction, spreading rumors or encouraging others to cause chaos.
  • Souls: It is said that the most powerful offering that a priest of Aurak can make is a soul, either by sacrificing one's own or by taking the soul of another. This is considered a powerful offering as it grants Aurak immense power.
  • Cryptic symbols or sigils: Priests of Aurak might draw symbols or sigils as a form of offering, symbols that only have meaning for them and Aurak. The symbols can be drawn with blood, ashes or even fear itself, this is to serve as a marker of his presence or as a way to call upon Aurak's powers.
  • Pain: Aurak is often pleased with offerings of pain, priests can inflict pain on themselves or others as a form of sacrifice to Aurak.
 

SHRINES & PRIESTS

The shrines of Aurak are often located in dark and shadowy places, such as caves, abandoned buildings, or graveyards. They are designed to inspire fear in those who enter and are often adorned with symbols and sigils of Aurak. The shrines are usually hidden or hidden in plain sight, to avoid detection by those who would oppose Aurak.   Inside the shrines, there is typically an altar for offerings, candles, incense, and offerings of blood, fear, and chaos. Priests of Aurak can be found at these shrines, performing rituals and ceremonies to honor Aurak and gain his favor.   Priests of Aurak are known for their chaotic and unpredictable nature, they are fiercely devoted to their deity and will stop at nothing to spread fear and chaos throughout the world. They are often heavily tattooed and scarred, showcasing their devotion to Aurak. Many of them are also known for their physical strength and battle prowess, as well as their ability to manipulate and control others through fear.   It is also not uncommon for priests of Aurak to be possessive, allowing Aurak to take control of their bodies in order to gain ultimate power and control. These priests are highly valued by the cult, as they are seen as the strongest and most powerful members of the cult.   The followers of Aurak are often loners, and not many of them are found in groups, as the cult of Aurak does not have a strongly centralized organization, this allows for them to operate in secrecy and under the radar. They have a strong belief in power through fear, many will do whatever it takes to please Aurak, to gain his favor and power, even if it means harming or killing others.   Priests of Aurak are often recognizable by their distinctive appearance, which is designed to strike fear into the hearts of those who see them. They are often heavily tattooed and scarred, showcasing their devotion to Aurak. They might wear dark and shadowy clothes, with hoods or cowls, to conceal their faces and inspire fear. Some of them may even wear masks to make their appearance even more ominous.   The symbols and sigils of Aurak are often prominently displayed on their clothing and accessories, such as brooches, medallions, or even weapons. They may also carry dark totems and charms, as they believe they bring them closer to Aurak. They usually wear their clothes torn, frayed, or even tattered, to represent the chaos that surrounds them and their deity.   They often wear dark and robust armor, and weapons such as scythes, swords, or even whips, which are often adorned with the symbols of Aurak. These weapons are used to spread fear and chaos, and also as a way to protect themselves from those who would oppose them.   Priests of Aurak have a tendency to have a fierce look, with red eyes and an intimidating grin, the result of having Aurak's spirit within them, or as a result of years of training, manipulation, and fear. They often come across as cold, calculating, and ruthless, and people feel a sense of unease just being around them.
