2025 New Years Resolutions
Happy New Year! Once again, we find ourselves at the end of Worldember, and it is time to acknowledge some of the great articles written during the last month. I've selected ten excellent articles - head on down to check them out!
Tounge Flashing by elspeth87
This article is both creative and technical in a way that is very impressive. The amount of detail really brings this innovative language to life, and brings verisimilitude to the setting.
Dreamweaver by Asmo
The creativity in this article really struck me. Those familiar with my world know that I'm a sucker for blurring the lines between dreams and reality, and this article fired my imagination on that topic. I'm really looking forward to where this world is going in the future.
Inzisana - Sunfestival by Blue Fairy 74
I love Elaqitan, and was excited to hear that the Fire Continent was going to be the focus of this year's Worldember. I chose this article out of several excellent candidates because I really felt immersed in the culture here. From the opening legend to the delightful artwork and intricate detailing, this festival brought the Layikani culture to life. For the best effect, read all the articles about them together - you'll be happy you did.
Kingdom of Darnia by Worldwildbuilder
I really liked the organization and detail included in this article - I could get a real sense of the nation just by skimming the headers and drill down to read the specifics of whatever caught my attention. And it is worth reading all of it - it immerses you in the geopolitics of the setting, and provides plenty of paths to follow and explore.
Russo-German War by Tynen_TM
The amount of thought and attention Tynen brings to these artcles is breathtaking. This article in particular captures a massive conflict in great detail, and sets up the future of this fascinating world. If you aren't following Kingdom of America yet, I suggest you do.
Boo, Your Guide to the Afterlife by make lore, not war (Imagica)
Choosing which of Imagica's articles to feature was one of the most difficult choices I had to make while compiling this list. In the end, I was so charmed by Boo that I couldn't leave him out. I laughed several times while reading about this character, and I know you will too.
Temple of the Broken God by Serukis
The title on this article grabbed me and I couldn't resist. It is a stub, but one that I desperately want to see expanded - what's there is enticing, intriguing, and potentially heartbreaking. I'll be watching to see where it goes, and I hope it will be expanded soon!
The Tinker by Revyera
This is a delightfully creepy article, that led me down a rabbithole exploring the Dark Halls of this world. I love the idea of a helpful horror that is no true help at all.
Cognitive Code by Mochimanoban
Wow. This article grabbed my imagination and hasn't let go. Mochi's work is consistently awesome, but this one really stood out to me. I hope to see more about how this incredible idea interacts with the rest of the Yonderverse in the future.
The Night of Infinite Dreams by StillnessandSilence
While reading this article, I felt immersed in the festival it described. It is excellently written, and describes a beautiful tradition.
Worldember 2024 Wrap-up
I had a pretty good year - my best yet. In my WorldEmber 2024 Homework article I had laid out some basic goals: 10k words, and an attempt to stomp as many stubs as possible. In the end, I reached a final wordcount of 54,821 - so I definitely met my goal there! I also did pretty well at eliminating stubs, with a total of 162 articles. 34 of those were my daily full articles, but the remaining 128 were stubs that I expanded on with ideas for later. They will help fuel my ongoing worldbuilding over the course of the year.

For the last sixteen months or so, I've been writing every day - and I intend to keep the streak going in the new year. I've found it to be really helpful for my mental health, and I like to think that the daily practice has improved my writing as well. So for those who follow "The Million Islands", you can expect to see my Articles of the Day still coming in the new year.
Well - except for one thing. I'm planning to write at least some of those articles in a different world. High Albion was the first world I created on WorldAnvil, long before I took up writing and worldbuilding seriously. It's a Victorian magepunk setting focused on international politics. It was a popular setting with my players when I was running it a few years ago, and I've decided to spend some time really developing it this year.
Lastly, I'm planning to run a challenge in March, tentatively named "The March of 31 Tales". Last year during the Inspo-August challenge, some of the writers I respect most said that they found my daily writing to be inspiring. I was blown away by this, and it gave me an idea for the challenge. I've found daily writing really helpful, and also really fun. In "The March of 31 Tales", I'm challenging all of you to try it out. Set a goal of how many words to write each day, and then make it happen for every day in March. Stay tuned for more details later in the month.
Thanks to Tyrdal for coming up with the challenge name, and to Myth-X & Jontaro for agreeing to make badges for it!A Few Of My Worldember Articles
These are some of the articles from Worldember that I'm most proud of - I hope you enjoy them.
aaaa thank you so much for featuring Cognitive Code, and for such high praise! It means a lot that you read my work so often, and help me out with ideas and things in the STC <3 I am really looking forward to more of the Million Islands, and High Albion! The Million Islands is one of my favourite worlds at the moment, and your consistent writing is so inspiring <3
Thank you! I’m looking forward to see what you’ve got planned for your worlds this year too!
