Nythis

Nythis was a minor goddess in the Thauzunian Orthodoxy, associated with prophecy, foresight, and incomplete knowledge of future events. In pre-Fall belief, Nythis did not provide clear predictions or guarantees. Her visions were understood to be symbolic, fragmented, and subject to interpretation. Prophecy under her domain did not eliminate uncertainty, but framed it.
Orthodox doctrine treated prophecy as a warning mechanism rather than instruction. Nythis did not tell mortals what would happen, only what might happen if conditions aligned. Her domain emphasized probability, risk, and consequence rather than destiny. Pre-Fall teachings stressed that prophecy was never self-executing; action or inaction by mortals determined outcomes. Misinterpretation was considered expected, not exceptional.
Nythis was closely associated with long-term planning and institutional foresight rather than individual revelation. Prophetic material was evaluated collectively, recorded, and compared against historical precedent. Personal visions or ecstatic experiences were discouraged, as they lacked verification and context. Nythis reinforced the Orthodoxy’s emphasis on responsibility: knowing a possible future did not absolve one from choosing wisely.
No knowledge of Nythis survives into the post-Fall era. There are no remaining references to her name, symbols, prophetic texts, or associated practices in modern Vey’Zari society. The Thauzunian Orthodoxy itself is unknown, and with its collapse, all structured understanding of Nythis vanished. She is not remembered, worshiped, or adapted into later belief systems.
