Larl Val’Druna

Larl Val’Druna is a Thauzunian low-born wielder, scraper, and withdrawn drunk whose life is defined more by bitterness than by circumstance alone. In his early years, he worked irregular shifts along the municipal scrap lines and recycling corridors, handling hazardous refuse and degraded machinery for minimal pay, a job that left him physically exhausted and emotionally hollow. Rather than fostering any sense of pride or responsibility, the work deepened his resentment toward everything he perceived as trapping him in place—his neighborhood, his debts, and most of all his family. He rarely made time for his family, often disappearing for long stretches into drinking dens or sleeping off shifts he barely remembered.   Larl did not simply neglect his family; he despised them. He regularly referred to his wife, Brenia, and their two daughters, Thyraen and Yalara, as burdens, blaming them for every failure, every missed opportunity, and every frustration he carried. His language was cruel and deliberate, meant to wound rather than vent, and it created an atmosphere of constant tension within the home. What began as verbal abuse hardened over time into physical violence. Before he finally abandoned them, Larl beat his wife and daughters during drunken rages, often over imagined slights or perceived disobedience. These episodes were unpredictable, leaving lasting fear rather than bruises alone, and forcing Brenia and the girls to learn how to stay quiet, stay small, and stay out of reach.   When Larl eventually left, it was without apology, explanation, or regret. His departure brought no closure—only a grim sense of relief mixed with long-term damage. The scars he left behind were not limited to broken trust or fractured family bonds; they shaped the emotional and psychological foundations of those he abandoned. Brenia learned endurance without expectation of support, Thyraen learned distance, and Yalara learned self-reliance. Larl Val’Druna did not die, redeem himself, or reconcile. He simply vanished from their lives. He now lives alone in the Ironveil district of Taz'Vaar, doing whatever odd jobs he can. He would eventually meet his granddaughter, Calyra, before assaulting her, stabbing her friend and Security Chief, Spy Tyros, before stealing a car and running over two children running data-cores.
