Aviator's Medal
The Aviator's Medal is a military award and decoration of the Hierarchy Air Force and Space Corps for personnel who distinguish themselves by heroism involving voluntary risk of their life not involving actual combat with an armed enemy of the Hierarchy. The medal was established on 28 Aogus 1961 and is awarded to those service members or those of a client race who, while serving in any capacity with the Hierarchy Air Force or Hierarchy Space Corps. The performance must have involved personal hazard or danger.
The Aviator's Medal was authorized on 41 Actopar 1958 to replace the Hierarchy Army and Navy's Marshal's Medal which had also been awarded to qualifying Air Force personnel since 2 Apral 1937. The Office of the Ambassador of the Air Force, Personnel Promotion Board approves or disapproves recommendations for Aviator's Medals requiring Ambassador of the Air Force final approval and determines upon approval, entitlement to 16 percent increase in base pay for the Aviator's Medal when awarded to enlisted members for extraordinary heroism.
