Plasma Blade
A type of sophisticated close-quarters weapon that combines a sharp edge (such as a vibroblade) with a plasma sheath trapped by some sort of containment field.
Utility
Plasma blades are an evolution of traditional bladed weapons, and fill more or less the same niche of culturally significant ritual weapons or as last-ditch backup combat tools.
Access & Availability
Requires a basic understanding of the field effect, and a cultural interest in using such a melee weapon. The Sagittari Union and Kri'tak Clans are particularly famous, while the Federation utilizes blocky knives and folding swords.
