Crumblestone Keep

The mighty fortress of the Vanguard Vigil, this castle high in the mountains on the west side of the Sword Mountains. With a commanding view of the nearby Mere of Dead Men, this castle is an easily seen landmark that stands as a testament to the might of its inhabitants.

Purpose / Function

Built thousands of years ago during the era of the Federation, this was originally a hydroelectric power plant that serviced an attached research station and military complex along with the nearby city of Gilead. Generations of neglect have left it forgotten by the nearby populace until it was discovered by the Vanguard Vigil. It has had a castle built over-top the old complex and serves as their base of operations.

Alterations

In 1489 DR a castle was erected at this location along with a Wizard's Tower and Skydock.

Architecture

The castle is crafted of local stone shaped by masterful dwarven masons. Plants from across multiple planes of existence can be found decorating the otherwise simply furnished castle. Where there is ornamentation, silver and orichalcum are the most common decorative metals. The power plant beneath the mountain is crafted of reinforced concrete and is very utilitarian in design.
