The World
Death
Most magical beings in this plane will not "die" outright when killed or defeated in combat. Even some non-magical beings with strong enough spirits may live on after death as a geist. More often, however, their spirit will attempt to find peace in eternal rest - but in Innistrad, peaceful rest after death is hard to come by as necromancers, demons, etc. will attempt to enslave or harvest the spirit and body to further their own ends.
Angels (celestials) and Demons (devils, fiends, and other infernals) cannot be killed nor ended while on the material plane of Innistrad. Their spirit will always be reborn and eventually return to the material plane. Once their physical form is killed though, their spirit can be bound and imprisioned through angelic (or demonic) rituals using moonstone.
Races
Tiefling
Offspring between a demon and a human. Demonic ancestry is generally not apparent until 10 years of age, in which horns start growing and skin color may alter to that of their demonic parent's. May or may not have tails or cloven feet.
Soultouched Automaton
Artifical lifeforms that have gained sentience. Powered by mana generated from a geist/geists (use stats of Warforged race from Source: Eberron - Rising from the Last War)
