Trollroot Tart

A slice of this tart will cost you about 10 AC.

Description and Effect

Trollroot Tarts are a dark purple from the Frostroot Berries, while the crust is pale in comparison. One can realistically make Trollroot Tart out of most things found in the forest, you just have to make sure the pie dough is made of the same ingredients. Due to its minor healing properties, it is often served at infirmaries, places of medical practice or in magical sweet shoppes.

Ingredients

    • 2 Cups of Boneberries, dried and ground into a course flour.
    • 1 Cup ground Oats
    • 1/3 Cup of butterfat or some form of shortening.
    • 2 Large Trollroot Tubers, diced into 1/2 Inch Cubes.
    • 1 Cup Frostwood berries.
    • 2 Tablespoons of Honey
    • 1 Teaspoon of Emberflower pollen
    • 1 Sprig of Ironmoss, roughly chopped.
I actually keep one around just in case I cut myself making something. However, it feels unpleasant when the magic is weaving your skin back together.

Instructions

    • 1. Grind the dried Boneberries in a mortar and pestle, until it resembles a soft snow. Mix in the ground oats and a pinch of salt. Incorporate the fat or shortening into the flour and mix until the flour makes crumbly clumps. Then add freshy melted snow until it forms a pliable dough. Rest for 15 min and then carefully roll out and place in tart pan.
    • 2. In a large pot, boil the Trollroot until soft and falling apart. Strain and put into a bowl and then mash until smooth. Gently fold in the honey, Frostwood berries and Ironmoss while heating over a medium heat. Add Emberflower pollen.
    • 3. Allow to settle and set completely in an icebox or cold storage. Serve with Frostwood berries and Ironmoss garnish.

Yay for culinary worldbuilding! I loved the detail about the tart's healing properties and the comment of how magic feels unpleasant when it restores a wound. Pretty cool article :)
