Known Region
The known region for Star Elks is usually withing the Luminous Vale, a highland in the North. They travel in herds and cross into less frigid areas during their rutting season. Finding antlers in the springtime is fairly easy if you know where to look. Star Elk are considered half-ethereal and often revered as such. As a rule, these beings are never hunted by the locals and if you ever see anyone who claims to have hunted them, please report them to the proper authorities. Star Elks are a protected species.
Properties
Star Elk Antler Dust is usually used in things that promote and strengthens connections to tarot, divination, dream interpretation and augury. It can also be used as a powerful mental clarifier that helps with focus and allowing the celestial messages to come through easier. Some claim to have an enhanced ability to sense leylines and powerful wells of magic.
That one, I am unsure about actually. It's possible? Further testing required.
..As An Alchemy Ingredient
A variety of potions come to mind when this ingredient is thought about. the Moonseer's Tonic is one such potion. This potion allows for prophetic dreams. The second potion that comes to mind is the Draught of Silent Minds, which allows the user to clear their mental chaos in order to better receive celestial knowledge. Honestly, it's useful in many things but you only need a small amount. Too much of it can overwhelm your senses and can cause delusions. I've been lucky to find a set of antlers, and they have been all I've needed for the last.. oh, 5 years or so.
Gathering and Preparation Instructions
NEVER - and I mean never - take these directly from the animal itself. Not only are they protected, they are unusable if they are taken directly off of a Star Elk. The innate magicks of the antlers turns sour and they have the potential to cause violent hallucinations and paranoia. If you do happen to find some, ensure you offer something for the spirit of the elk. Things such as a song, foods, or a small token are enough to please the spirit and you should be able to pick them up with no issues. As far as preparations, sanding the antler and grinding chunks of it into super fine powder is usually all it takes.
Fun fact: It can be used as a cosmetic item while still retaining its properties. I use it as an eyeshadow and it seems to help me when I use cards, pendulums or runes.
oh my god i'm starstruck by that artwork (hah, starstruck)
