Seeker's Sandglass
Description
This vial of golden sand is quite small and there is seemingly no way to open it. I am uncertain where the sand itself comes from. The sand inside of the vial is almost as if its made from gold the way that it shifts and shines. The vial is firmly attached to a golden chain that is magically able to re-size itself.
Ability
This little, unassuming vial of sand is able to stop and reverse time within a mid-sized range (roughly 100ft). All time is reversed for roughly one minute, returning everything within the bubble back to the state, place, and phase it was. The wearer is the only one who retains any memory that using the charge of the sandglass reverses anything. This ability is only able to be used once every lunar cycle and only once by the same user. After you use a charge of the time magic, it glows faintly and will continue to do so unless the sandglass changes hands.
I have a contract for when anyone wants to 'buy' this item. It a magical contract where upon the use of the sandglass, the item teleports back to my stock. Its the best way to avoid Chronovores appearing.
How I Obtained It
It is suspected that this item was actually crafted by monks in a temple dedicated to keeping the time of life intact. However, as far as I can tell, there was a period of time where the sandglass apparently disappeared from existence. Thought to be lost to the void, it wasn't until a monk by the name of Thorne recovered it from a rift in time. He returned from the rift having aged several decades and his eyes had been burned gold due to what he saw within the rift. No one knows exactly what he saw on account that he expired rather quickly after returning. The only words he said were "The minute costs a lifetime." before turning to dust. That being said, I had bought it in an estate sale of a wealthy trinket collector. Having thought that it was lost to time again, her family had no idea that they had such a powerful item.
Some things to note here:
1. Prolonged ownership of the sandglass is said to cause Chronovores to appear or follow you around.
2. Prolonged ownership will also cause the wearer to potentially hear or see temporal echoes of things past or future. Some have been known to see visions of different timelines.
3. My hypothesis is that the sand is not sand at all, but instead it is ground up seconds from the minutes that the sandglass reverses.
