Nightshade Lily

Known Region

Nightshade Lilies tend to grow within the deepest parts of the Shrouded Vale. The Vale is covered in a near perpetual twilight and only lit by large fireflies and bioluminescent mushrooms. These lilies grow in quite glades and by moonlit ponds. Some of the rarer colonies of this lily are protected by local druids or spirit guardians. Due to the nature of the Vale, the flower itself is as dark as the night sky with small flecks of golden that glow like stars. The bloom of the flower smells like a regular lily but mixed with soaked moss and starlight. The stamens of the lily glow dimly in the night. The dark green leaves have small nettles on them that are quite sharp.

Properties

Nightshade Lily petals are able to be brewed into a tea that induces a deep, dreamless sleep that is used for healing magical depletion and night terrors. When distilled in moon water, the pollen is used in draughts that have a strong affinity for prophetic visions and can promote lucid dreams.
Be warned: Using too much of this ingredient in anything can result in comas, sleep paralysis and horribly long bouts of insomnia.

..As An Alchemy Ingredient

Most often, this lily is used in Witchwater Elixir as a powerful additive and this makes the potion work far better than it does without it.

Gathering and Preparation Instructions

Harvest during the new moon, it willbe less volatile that way. Only use a silver sickle, it doesn't damage the Dream Threads. The lily is ready to harvest if the lily hums faintly and a halo of different moths flutter around the bloom. Dry the petals in a dark room that is only lit by starlight for three days. Keep in a dark room in crystal vials in a velvet lined box. Keep out of reach of children.
My grandfather used to say "If the lilies are singing, they are ready to go. If they are screaming, it is time for you to go."

I'll second Asmo, it truly feels alive and I love especially the little bits of tradecraft wisdom we have in like notation form. Those little bits of tradecraft knowledge, like the quote in regards to the lillies singing or screaming, really elevate things, adding this wonderful narrative sort of flow of consciousness flair as if we are reading directly out of a master alchemist's notebook :)

Such a deep rich colour of flower, I love it. I want to hang out where it grows.
