Moonglass Shard

Known Region

Moonglass Shards are found primarily in the Tearfall Expanse, an eerie yet beautiful tundra to the North. During winter the Expanse is often continuously bathed in moonlight. The shards of Moonglass only show themselves after a blood moon or some sort of celestial convergence. Some claim that Moonglass is actually solidified moonbeams. There has been reports of it forming near meteor impacts, though I've never managed to see that for myself.

Properties

This particular stone is quite fragile and easy to flake off instead of taking the whole mineral. Moonglass Shards have a strong affinity to water and the moon. It amplifies mental clarity and illusion magic as well as providing increased powers of divination, scrying and dream manipulation.

..As An Alchemy Ingredient

Due to the Moonglass' powers of mental clarity, it is used in studying potions. Divination potions and scrying spells often use this ingredient to amplify their effects. As it is a highly sought after substance and difficult to gather, it is a rare ingredient that costs a bit more than normal. Making a fine powder from Moonglass is easy to do and also can potentially aid in shape-changing magicks.

Gathering and Preparation Instructions

Moonglass Shards are only able to be harvested during a full moon. Harvesting at any other time can result in the shards turning into dust. Keep the shards in a container full of charged moon water. Crushing the shards in a runed mortar and pestle in order to keep it from reacting in a unfortunate manner.

I love the sketch of the actual mineral! I'm a sucker for "field journal" style entries. Really cool.

I love the journal style art, especially the naturally like kinda chaotic (but also understandable) layout of the notes on the journal page with the image, that's a very wonderful true to life touch I've seen my fair share of like research field journals and they all, without fail, without question, do it. It is human nature I must scribble chaotic notes to go with my field sketch, it is simply required, so that is so true to form and fantastic.   I like too this entry (not sure if that's the intention going forward for everything) is first person. We are getting talked to about the material by the apothecary them self and that adds a really fun kind of cozy feel to this, very immersive It was a small touch, only clearly referenced in one paragraph but it immediately jumped out at me and it was just a really nice touch I wanted to mention :)
