Description
A golden porcelain mask decorated with fine and delicate golden inlay. Under bright light, its as if the porcelain is alive and pulsing with thick, black veins of some unknown origin. No matter how many times I clean it, it always smells of old, expired incense and dust. When worn, a ghostly eye comes out from behind the hollow eye sockets, tracing the movement of everything withing its line of vision.
Effect
A gentle reminder that the mask is not something to just put on and wear. It is a very dangerous item and should not be handled with flippancy. Wearing the mask for too long can cause paranoia, hallucinations and the blur of the Waking World and the Unknown. Wearing the mask does have some upsides to it, mainly that it allows the wearer to see through walls less than 5 feet thick. When worn, the mask whispers dark things to your mind and directly influence your hallucinations.
How I Obtained It
The legend around this particular piece is that it was found on the face of a long mummified monk in a very long abandoned temple, thought to be created by some angry god. However, I am privy to the knowledge that it was created by a paranoid tinkerer and he used it to keep an eye on his property. He seemed to be convinced that something or someone was coming for him. One day, he vanished. Potentially the thing that he was sure was hunting him finally got him.
Creepy! I love the description of the porcelain under bright light, and I love that it was just a paranoid tinkerer that made it xD
He was quite the mind, if I remember him correctly. - Vaelwyn
