Known Regions
Emberleaf is a relatively newly discovered plant species that has erupted around volcanic lakes and springs. It is also possible to find them within the Ashenwood Veil. As far as I can tell, it is not likely to survive winter's frost. A fiery shaped leaf with veins of glowing heat, the stems look like charcoal and it smells vaguely of woodsmoke and cinnamon.
Properties
Seeing as how this plant has recently surfaced, not much is known about it. The plant itself is warm to the touch and pleasant to handle. Seems to be able to provide cold-resistance if made into a potion, and if made into a blade oil provides the ability to burn things. When burned Emberleaf can provide a boost of courage and vigor or clarity in spellcasting and battle depending on the circumstances.
..As An Alchemy Ingredient
Emberleaf can be turned into an incense called Guiding Flame that is to be used when one needs to communicate with fire spirits or anything to do with the Fire Plane. I have made a salve that can help with frostbite with it when I first found it. I suppose the same or similar ability could be used to make a blade oil that causes damage and burns.
I am curious to see how it reacts in the Ashwind Draught. It could be a great catalyst, I bet.
Gathering and Preparation Instructions
Generally, this plant is only to be harvested in the summer months and one should never harvest the whole plant. Take some of the leaves from the top of the plant so it may continue growing while I and others continue to monitor them. Let the leaves dry by themselves and grind into a shimmering rusty-gold powder. For the incense I used resin from a volcanic tree and I also mixed in Sunflare Thistle. For now, I'm trying to grow some within Ink & Ivy and monitor its progress.
