Known Region
A multicoloured pebble found on the ocean floor of ruined underwater cities. Driftglass is actually made from melted glass-like coral and shaped by the tides into smooth round stones. A common place for finding these pebbles is off of the Shatterwake Coast. Not much is known about the cities you find these in off of the coast, but the Driftglass seems to have been integral to the civilization's water-magicks. What we do know about this civilization is that they were very in tune with the innate Water Magicks around them and using pieces of glass coral was part of it. Each of the pebbles gleam with a soft light in the darkness.
Properties
Driftglass Pebbles are lighter than regular glass, stronger than it and, usually move around with the tides. Larger chunks have a harder time rolling with the whims of the tides. While fully submerged, the Pebbles allow the bearer to breathe underwater. It must be held against bare skin. It encourages gills to grow temporarily which makes you able to breathe. Additional properties include better underwater vision, bioluminescence and water manipulation.
..As An Alchemy Ingredient
While useful on its own, it does have uses and an alchemy ingredient. Mainly, any water-breathing potions require it. Gillsalve also requires it as an ingredient. Grinding it is the best way to keep it, as heating the whole pebble can cause it to fracture into many tiny, hot pieces.
This is actually one of my favourite stones, like, ever. Almost as good as MossStones.
Gathering and Preparation
It doesn't matter what time of day you obtain these, but the sea has to be calm. Search for them amongst the coral shelves, lodged in between architecture and natural bits of life. Make sure the pebbles are "living glass" meaning they HAVE to glow in order for one to use them. Avoid the Trench. The unsettling magicks and unknown depth still cause issues, even millennia after the Tidecaller cities were decimated. Before grinding, rinse in fresh water. To use the stones innate powers, many divers have a special pocket for one in their gloves.
