Bring Out Your Dead
A simple spell to bring back a beloved pet, unleashed a terror beyond reckoning. Every other dead animal on the surface of the planet reanimated into a bloodthirsty demon. The spell made it so even intact parts of animals reanimated into formless blobs capable of turning humans into demons, as well. Furs, leathers, taxidermy heads, skeletons, and even cast-off bones of former meals awakened and moved in whatever way they could, all questing for one thing: the blood of the living.
Those poor souls wearing their favorite fur muffler, or leather gloves, suddenly found themselves grappling with a fashionable doom.
The spell must be broken, but no one knows the origin. The original caster, a reclusive hermit, had no idea the nightmare his spell caused. His beloved dog, Tippy, was the only corpse who simply came back to life without the demonic tendencies. He prepared the spell for use, years before, in preparation for the day his companion would succumb to death. As he also abstained from using animal products of any kind and always buried any dead creatures (or their parts) whenever he found them on his walks, he had no idea the extent of this magic.
