Gnolls

A few years before the insurgence of fiends that would cause The Slumbering, the first signs of trouble came in the form of demons appearing across not just around the Arborlands,but the Stonelands as well. The reason for this demonic influence would be realized in 6 BA when the demon lord Yeenoghu first manifested an avatar on Ingia and began to tear through cities on the Continent of Stone. In this mass appearance of abyssal magic creatures in the area were distorted into new forms; the most notable of which being the hyenas twisted into a strange bipedal form- the first gnolls. Other powerful creatures of the lower planes saw Yeenoghu's rampage and followed his lead to cut off his spread and take power for their own-this being the insurgence that defined history. During their attack some saw the use of gnolls as violent ever moving soldiers and distorted their minds to serve new masters.

Gnolls were creatures that lived in constant agony. Their origins in the Lord of Hunger meant that they have a deep, hollow pain within them that can only be sated for minutes at most; and only if they gorge themself stupid.
