Modern Police

With the dissolution of military law enforcement, cities needed a new way of maintaining law and order. They modeled their new force structure around that of the military but removed much of the customs and courtesies. This new force didn't need to wear full plate mail as weapons were now seldom carried publically. With the development of firearms, the newly established police had a lethal and quick weapon at their disposal even against the likes of mages. For extremely dangerous criminals, heavier equipment is available and trained on.

Law and Order

Chusett police regularly patrol roads, answer calls for aid, and provide security for official events. Their job isn't to persecute every minor crime but to deter crime in general and promote civility. As such, it is generally frowned upon to use excessive force when detaining or arresting persons, although cases aren't uncommon. With the recent rise of eco-terror groups, officers are on high alert. This has led to several deadly confrontations between civilians and law enforecment in recent months.

Arcusa And Police

Arcusa have been well established in cities since long before the formal introduction of civilian law enforcement. As such, feelings between the two shouldn't be anything but the worst. In reality, however, higher-ups in the police department accept large bribes from arcusa to keep their officers on a leash and ensure unsightly cases get buried. With every uncovered scandal, less faith is placed in the police department to do their jobs. Unfortunately, the officers that actually do their jobs are either placed in positions with less power, or killed by the arcusa.

Departments

Patrol Department

The bulk of law enforcement officers work in the patrol department. These officers' main duties are keeping the peace, to include the handling of petty criminals, ensuring civilian safety, and responding to emergencies. Patrolmen are required to wear a uniform while on duty; tan pants with plue pinstripes and a tan buttoned shirt. They typically carry a radio in their vehicle so they can be contacted at almost anytime. They also carry tonfas, handcuffs, and a revolver.

Organized Crime

Detectives working in Organized Crime are focused on gang and arcusa related activities. Since being a arcusa is not technically illegal, detectives must work to try and catch them in the act of something legitimately illegal. This is especially difficult to do for the higher ranking who have devout younger members to handle dirty business. Organized Crime detectives don't wear identifying markers so they can act without drawing attention. They usually carry only cuffs and their revolver.

Homicide

Homicide detectives work in a gruesome line of work. Their focus is solving murder cases, a job that takes a lot of time. In a city like Chusett, they are kept busy and are often forced to drop cases. These detectives where the identifying letters "CPDH" (Chusett Police Department, Homicide) on tan outerwear but are not required to wear a full duty uniform. They tend to work with partners, but sometimes a particularly stubborn detective will work on their own. They carry cuffs and a revolver.
