Wine Dance

She takes her position with the other vinters. The dance was never her favorite part of her job, not because of the religious conintations, but because she always felt it took away from the real work, tending to the land and buildings. Wouldn't the eternals prefer her to do her actual job and make sure things were healthy and running smoothly rather than wasting her time with the dancing and ritual tasting of the wine? She could drink the wine whenever she wants, regurally having to in order to ensure the quality of the product.   The music starts and she lifts her hands, the grapevines around her wrists sliding slightly. Then she began to spin. Her feet quickly and evenly dance around the barrels. Eyes mostly closed, she just sees the feet of her fellows. Someone lets out a wild cry and the dance picks up speed. A flash of fire red passes in front of her, far too near for it to be the fires. She opens her eyes briefly, catching sight of the queen. Not surprising, she herself is a bringer of maddness as well as being a powerful mage.   The dance grows wilder, hotter as the fires begin to burn larger and larger. Sweat runs down her face, a dizzying feeling overcoming her. And it begins. The worst part. It's turning intoxicating, worst than wine. It's becoming hard to focus, to finish the dance.    The music stops and she stumbles against the barrels, resting. Sweat pours down her face and her head spins. Her eyes open and she sees a faint figure, dark skinned, red eyes, white hair. The goddess, smiling at her. She sighs, fills a cup with the wine and toasts the goddess before downing the cup.    "I'm going back to work." She mutters.

History

The wine dance goes back to the settling of the Myril, a wild thing whose exact origins are unknown. What is know about the dance is that it is meant to celebrate the harvest for that year and the end of the wine making process from previous years. The intent is to bless with wine making process and the product itself.   The original meaning of the dance was to call upon the eternals, a way to bless the hard work and to bless their continued work, as well as honor Cuthachiel, the goddess of magic and maddness.
