The little princess is watching the soldiers train again. Good, she needs to know how much work they put in in order to protect our people's boarders. It's extremely intense and very important. One of the soldiers hits the ground and she lets out a tiny gasp, clearly shocked and frightened by the brutality of the training.
The young soldier who hit the ground looks over at her and smiles, getting up to his knees.
"Come here." She does, clearly a little nervous. His sparring partner joins him, kneeling down next to him to be at eye level with the small girl. "What's your name?"
"Anahita Coruscare." The two soldiers share a look.
"Pleasure to meet you, Princess. I can tell that your worried about our training." Soldier one smiles at her.
"I don't want you to get hurt." He smiles at her.
"We have to hurt a little now to prevent hurting worse later. It's the only way we can be ready to protect our people and our country." His sparring partner pats the princess on the head.
"And we have a lot of really good tools to help keep us safe."
"Why aren't you using them now?" She asks.
"Because we're training to use just our hands because we'll always have those!" Soldier one says.
"Well, most likely." Soldier two gets punched by Soldier one. "What!?"
Soldier one shakes his head. "I'm going to knock you out. Princess, watch from the side. You're too small to train with us yet but you're not too young to learn."
"Never too young to learn."

Qualifications
Must be at least 16 years old and have basic math, reading and reasoning skills.
Career Progression
Foot soldiers are the lowest ranks but there is the opportunity to climb the ladder and reach higher ranks.

Pay is low but not unreasonable. Can support a family at home with it.

Social Status
A lot of foot soldiers do come from low class families, as it is an easy way to get to a better living situation, but they aren't hated on. They are respected, as their job is dangerous, and some reintegrate into civilian life, taking what they learned in military service to their new careers.

The absolute most basic outfit includes boots, pants, a shirt and a jacket. The specifics vary depending on where the foot soldier is stationed. Basic weapons include a rifle, a short two-foot sword, a dagger with a tringle wedge at the tip that great for opening things and a small hand pistol.
Workplace
Most are out in the field, which leaves them in a pretty wide set of environments. From deserts to jungles, they have quite the rage of where work might take them.
Our foot soldiers, the backbone of our miliary. Without them, we wouldn't be able to expand our boarders or protect our people. They have always been important, all the way back to the time of our first emperor, Eligius Coruscare, who used his legions to make himself emperor and establish a new order, an imperial order with him as our leader. We need them.
