The Shroud

The Shroud is a Neutral entity, revered as the God of Magic. They refer to themselves as the Shroud, but have been referred to by many names, as they care little about what it is referred to as. The Shroud holds domain over the innate power of magic, but lacks any direction for such magic, as it appears apathetical to the utilization and channeling of magic- Only with its existence and perpetuation appear to be of meaning to them.    The Shroud, also referred to as "Mage Superior," "Magic's Existence," and "The Center of Wizardry," is theorized to be Magic itself, personified- Though it's difficult for anyone to tell, with how little The Shroud interacts in mortal affairs. Clerics and Paladins of The Shroud are very, very few, and those that are chosen are chosen in times of deep need for the balance and maintenance of magic- And most disappear when their quests are achieved.     Mages and other Magic Users who seek prayer and faith in the Shroud are rarely, at least apparently, awarded. The Shroud does not appear to care much whether or not they are prayed to, and have made it clear through numerous claims that part of The Shroud exists in all mages- Permeating all major magic users in some, slight way.    The Shroud never appears as a mortal on the material plane, and when it does need to enter itself in mortal affairs, it does so as a disembodied voice to those they need to contact. As a result, most physical depictions and statues of the Shroud are mystical energies swarming around a single spark or otherwise four-pointed star.
