Jinx OOtA 8 - 6 Feathers from 6 Angels
We ran into some gargoyles that didn't approve our being there. They were perched atop this castle looking thing right in the middle of the underdark. I used Dawnbringer to injure one of them but my dagger missed. It just glanced off of the gargoyle like it was stone or something.
Huldir hit one of them with flame arrows. Eldredge used a bunch of eldritch blasts to hit. They were fairly easy to take down but now there was this castle looking thing and we weren't sure if there would be anything in there or not. Eldredge had to cast identify on the thing. It looked so out of place.
Turns out it was something called Daern's Fortress. You say the name given which was Mimsy and it collapses into a small cube you can carry in your pocket. It ended up in my Bag of Holding but when we explored it we found skeletongs of people who had died in there previously. Somebody used thaumaturgic powers to clean the place up first.
We made our way into the northern entrance of the Labrynth. We went into the area known as the Horned King. I'm not sure why. It has a high ceiling and there's glowing fungi on the walls. There were columns. We could see a chamber across a rift with a bunch of severed heads and sigils.
Eldredge found out that the sigils are invocations to Baphomet. The area had been consecrated in the name of the lord of the minotaurs. We came across a tattered and torn gnoll who offered to be our guide but we turned him down.
We went into the chamber where the angels are. I was expecting to see angels like I saw in picture books when I was a kid but these angels were all turned to stone. We felt bad for the angels. We didn't know what had happened to them but it reminded me of when my friends were petrified by a Medusa.
Thorand tried to heal one but none of his magic worked.
We discovered though that if you touched an angel, something might happen. They might speak or something.
The first angel said, "Kill me." I kind of felt sorry for him and wanted to kill him but didn't know how.
The second angel, Tamiel said, "Do not lose hope." but his head was bent like he wasn't feeling much hope.
The third angel pointed to a spot on the cavern wall in abject horror and if somebody touched that one, they had to make a wisdom save. Huldir failed his saving throw and now he has a curse that prevents him from taking anything seriously. I can't imagine Huldir laughing.
That seemed to make Huldir want to touch more of the angels. I was afraid to touch any of them.
The fourth angel, Baetrol, appeared to be reaching out to something.
Nothing happened but he had to roll a charisma save.
The fifth angel, Aniya, reached towards ceiling. Its face was a mask of hatred and anybody that touched it had to make a wisdom save.
Zarod claws at his eyes and his face appears torn, rent. Essentially when he was touched, you got divination and get to ask one question.
Sylvia covers its eyes with its arms but seems to be smiling. When he is touched, one must make a wisdom save and anybody who touched that one got advantage on their next wisdom saving throw. I was willing to touch that one.
Eldredge asked the question of Zarod. Zarod told us there was a shimmering gateway which is providing a way for a demon horde to get in. He also told us about a minotaur demon.
It was weird.
What is even weirder is that Huldir is acting really strange. He's usually so grumpy. He hasn't complained once about Dawnbringer. Instead he's walking around giggling strangely as if he knows something we don't know. I'm worried about him.
Next, we are going to the Maze engine that the modron we met after killing the Beholder told us about. Eldredge is very curious about it.
