Valtarien
Until recently the Valtarien family held few lands and a minor noble title. 50 years ago the Valtarien family achieved their rise in status, after a disease swept through the region of Suncrest, this terrible disease killed the Duke and his family, along with many of the other nobles the dukedom, by the time the disease was dealt with, the Valtarien family was in the strongest position politically, due to a combination of factors. They were skilled wine makers, and their vineyards and wineries in the region were producing some of the finest wines in the land. They were also skilled politicians and diplomats, and had developed strong alliances with other influential families and factions across StormHaven. Additionally, they had contributed significantly to the Kingdom of StormHaven through acts of charity and public service, which earned them the favor of the royal family. so Lirien Valtarien was granted the Dukedom after the passing of her parents to the same disease.
The crest of House Valtarien is a golden lyre on a field of silver and green, with two crossed quills behind the lyre.
