Harin
Harin is a village in the south of Cirrane. It would be a fairly typical Cirranian village if it wasn't for the 80ft tower that stands against the wood that surrounds the village from the north.
Demographics
Mortals of all different species live in Harin. It is a very multi-cultural town.
Government
Harin is ruled by Thane Yara Ulvan. Her family has been the caretaker of Harin since it was founded in 50 AR. The Republic of Cirrane is currently in the process of trying to get Yara to agree to join the republic.
Districts
Harin is informally split into three small districts.
West District
The west district is viewed as the more working-class section of the village. The more unsightly professions, such as the smith, carpenter and leather-worker have their workshops amongst the smaller houses of this district.East District
The east district is seen as the more upper-class section of the village. The Ulvan family home is in this district.Town Square
The town square is the center and nicest part of the village. There are two taverns, a clothing maker, a representative of the merchant's guild, a general store, and a herbalist. This area is kept looking the nicest in the village.Assets
The Wayfinder's Rest
The tavern on the east side of the town square. Owned by Floran, a male half-elf. His sister, Florence, owns The Bag and Flagon across the square. Considered the "nicer" of the two village's taverns, it costs 5 silver for one night there. The Bag and Flagon
The tavern on the west side of the town square. Owned by Florence, a female half-elf. Her brother, Floran, owns The Wayfinder's Rest. The cheaper of the two taverns, it costs 2 silver for one night there. During the ???, sex workers take up in this tavern to earn money with all the people in town.Gribalba's Garments
This clothing store/tailor in the town square is owned by the female goblin, Gribalba. Reluctantly, she makes a lot of basic clothes for the people of Harin, but she loves making unique creations for those who commission her.The General Store
This aptly named store in the town square is owned by Otto, a sweet half-orc who inherited the business from his father, and so on. Basic tools, items, and food can be found here.Primrose & Sage
This herbalism store in the town square is owned by Mira and Rowan, a halfling and a human couple. The Builders
A smithy, carpenter, mason, and leatherworker owned by the Balfon family. Jory is the smith (eldest son), Ned is the mason (father), Hilda is the carpenter (mother), and Vi is the leatherworker (daughter).Dahlia's Meadery
A brewery owned by the elderly drow, Dahlia. She supplies mead, ale, and wine to both the Wayfinder's Rest and the Bag & Flagon.History
Groups of refugees that were denied entry from Kythana saw the tall tower in the distance and headed towards it. Although the tower could not be entered, a small settlement began to form around it. On the last day of Summer, 50 AR, a single letter appeared in the hand of Oram Ulvan. The next morning, on the first day of Autumn and the Autumn Equinox, he approached the tower to find a door that opened for him alone. Later that night, he emerged from the tower. He couldn't remember what had happened to him while he had been there, but he remembered what he had emerged with. He claimed that a powerful and dangerous creature would attack their settlement at the end of Autumn. He worked hard to convince everyone to work together to prepare the settlement, and when the creature attacked, everyone worked together to defeat it, saving the settlement. Oram was accepted as their Thane and he named the town Harin.
Every 25 years, another person or group was invited into the tower. They emerged without memories but another mysterious prophecy or clue to their destiny. The week leading up to the Autumn Equinox became a large celebration in Harin, with people coming from all across Cirrane to get a chance to enter the tower.
Points of interest
The Tower
A large, marble tower covered in ivy and plants stands between Harin and the wood surrounding the town from the north. There are no doors into the tower and no windows either. Underneath the overgrown plants, there are runes carved into the marble written in the ancient tongue of the Titans.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
