Nárë (gnaw-ray)

This is Nárë. The blade of Ghâsh, the great fire elemental general of the ancient south. Once ash and fire the southern plains of Y'Sy'kranor were a barren wasteland void of life. Only rock and ruin lay here now.   Nárë was lost to the ages after Ghâsh and his kind were imprisoned permanently for atrocities committed ages past. Nárë was last seen in the once mighty city of Ogmit as a peace offering between the fire elementals and the great leviathan Thijanti. It was enlayed in a watery pedestal made of driftwood, with kelp strewn about its base. Four yellow eyes, unnerving and lifeless stare facing the outer pillars of the temple. The eyes move when anyone approaches Nárë.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Nárë was embued with the soul fire of ghâsh. His essence lives in Nárë. His soul fire gives Nárë life. At times Nárë will glow red, different shades of red depending on circumstances whether it be social interactions, combat, the wielder being healed or casting a spell.
  • When in certain social situations (i.e threatening with this weapon-- Nárë will glow blood red.)
  • When the blade strikes a creature in combat the blade surges lighter red with hints of orange.
  • when a spell is cast by verbal or somatic Nárë glows yellow reverting back to its original red after the spell is cast.
  • When the wielder is having a spell cast on them (such as healing word) the blade turns sunset orange.

History

Ghâsh, the fire elemental general of the south had this forged for him to be a war weapon. In the height of its day, Nárë was a mighty cleaver the size appropriate for a fire elemental. Now Nárë having been away from its master for so long has grown weaker and caused it to shrink. Nárë was considered to be the bane of the undead for the fire elementals lived underground and the dead attacked them. Not much else is known of Ghâsh and his people. But not long ago, the fire elementals were imprisoned for their atrocities on the peoples of Ikthvana. Some speculate Nárë was the end of Ilythemar and the elves that inhabited it all those years ago.

Significance

The bane of the undead and proud artifact of the fire elementals.  Nárë was a symbol of power, it struck fear into those who may cross ghâsh and the fire elementals.

Nárë (stats)

Weapon

Very Rare Evocation Requires Attunement

Nárë glows various colors of flame depending on situations [See Nárë (article) for more information]

Nárë is forged from the soul fire of Gâsh. This means that a little bit of him lives in Nárë, his soul fire gives Nárë its magic. Nárë's blade is coal black like obsidian a little faded towards the cross guard. Still black like the night. The hilt, covered in dark-red crimson leather, an orange streak coiled around the hilt, inverted from the leather (counter clockwise). Its pommel a black gem.
that seems to pulse at times, almost like a heart beat. The cross guard gold and a little scratched but not broken. Two gems inlayed in the center. One red garnet and the other a saphire (rumored to be symbolic of the peace treaty 'tween te fire elementals and Uk'otoa.)

Abilities:

As an action you may speak a command word (Calta)--with Nárë held aloft parallel to your face and Nárë envelops in a mighty deep red flame.

After the previous abilitiy is activated: you have two choices

  1. Once per day, you may cast the flameblade spell after Nárë is ignited.

  2. You may brandish Nárë towards the ground whilst speaking the words Nárë, ad vitam veni, videant hostes tui immortalem potentiam. (Nárë, come to life, let my foes see your undying might.). After the phrase is spoken, Fire breaches from Nárë's blade. And if within 15ft of a creature that creature must make a DC 10 + spellcasting ability of Nárë's wielder DEX saving throw or be considered blinded for 1 round and take 2d6 Fire damage on a failed save and only blinded for a round on a successful one.

  3. The caster must also make an arcana check to see a wall of flame remains stationary in a 20ft line of the direction the wielder is facing with Nárë. If the arcana check succeeds, a wall of flame remains for 2 rounds 10ft away from the target. Anything attempting to cross the wall of fire takes 2d4+ INT mod of the caster. If it fails, the caster must make a wisdom save or loose a spell slot of the highest level avalible to Nárë's wielder.
