Ch. 1: Natural Habitat and Life

Gleamshrooms were first discovered not too far from the worlds center, Vaporio. They grow in wet swamps and forests, and absorb water, convert it to nutrients and push the excess out of their caps in a warm orange glow.

Versatile Potential

The Gleamshroom-stem houses thousands of small interwoven veins that absorb the water and turn it into their "Life Essence". While Gleamshrooms need this essence to live, it also has various alchemical and medicinal uses, which are explored in Chapter two. The luminescent cap, which outputs a warm-to-the-tough gleam, is also supplied through these Life Essence Channels.

Ch. 2: Usage and Areas of Application

Gleamshrooms are one of the most diverse flora discovered on Ignotas, with lots of applications yet to be discovered.

Source of Light

The most common way Gleamshrooms are used are as sources of light. Botanists have found a way to preserve a Gleamshroom in a sealed ecosystem. With a steady supply of water, lamps can be constructed with relatively little energy requirements. While currently only bigger lamps are possible, the scientists work tirelessly to release a Gleamshroom desklamp.

Alchemical Hallucigenic

Alchemists have already found several usecases for these fungi to enhance their potions. Some add Gleamshroom Stems to their poisons to invoke hallucigenic numbness alongside the poison, disguising a killing poison as enjoyeable drugs. Some have used the cap to densen flashbombs, greatly increasing their intensity and radius. While more properties of the fungus are still uncovered, the applications will only widen.

Rescue of the Swallowed

The most revolutionary application of Gleamshrooms is yet in development. The glow of the flora is said to be soothing to the mind, which made some Botanists curious: Is there a way to increase the effect while applying it to the severely mentally scarred Swallowed? They basically want to reverse-engineer the effect the Gleamshroom-stem causes in alchemical fields to heal those captured and tortured by the Fog. Currently, the tincture, which is made of liquified caps and other herbs, called Mindcleanse, is in its first testing phase, and showed great results when applied to Swallowed that have just started being invaded by the Fog.
