Enoki
"They shambled on legs not quite meant to support the locomotion of man. Mottled, pale flesh contrasted with their colorful heads; tall and narrow, bulbous, flat and wide. Their mouths gawped wordlessly as they moved through the mushroom forest, stopping to touch the trunk-like stalks every so often. A large blue capped one seemed to be in the lead; it's body language, if it could be called that, gave a sense of more alertness. It's gnarled appendage carried a shaped branch.
They came upon a grisly scene - one of their own had been ripped apart, small and immature, it had stood no chance against whatever rending jaws or maw had shredded it.
A thunderous howl shook the forest, the mushroom-trees themselves seemed to shudder in response. A barghest, leapt from a rocky outcropping, it's tenebrous, wolf-like body dove among the Enoki, grabbing one by it's arm and flinging it a dozen feet. Several of them grabbed the creature in close combat; though their limbs moved ponderously, they had a tenacious grasp, root-like fingers grasping the barghest's skin even through it's thick fur. It's slavering jaws bit through one's face stalk, severing it in half and managed to shake off another before the blue cap brought down it's staff with such force it caved the thing's head in.
The remaining group picked up their fallen comrades and constructed a litter to drag the corpse of the barghest's body behind them as they returned to their home, whereupon they took the body to a patch of earth with several small stalks. These were different than the tree-mushrooms, several had sprouted protoform appendages. They dug a shallow pit and deposited the barghest and the bodies of their fallen brethren and covered it up."
Basic Information
Anatomy
Humanoid in build, generally found with four limbs; hands and legs. Endoskeleton composed of strong fibrous material. Majority of species range from 3-4 feet in height. Wide range of head-like structures, resembling large fungus type caps.
Genetics and Reproduction
Reproduce through spooring, having cycles every several years where buds generate on their bodies, have a highly adaptable ability to incorporate foreign DNA by placing the spoorlings on dead or living flesh.
Growth Rate & Stages
Immobile phase of new Enoki last for 6 months before growing limbs strong enough to support itself. Grows stronger and larger from thenceforth
Ecology and Habitats
Live in extensive caverns that run through Reythr and in remote mushroom forests that thrive in the deep vales.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Prefer damp or humid locations where rotting vegetation or animal matter is likely to be found
Biological Cycle
Become larger and sturdier over time, growing thicker hides. Though reason is unknown, a most elder Enoki will plant themselves within the mushroom groves and allow their limbs to wither away and continue to grow and become part of the forest itself. A select few older individuals will continue to be remain active.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Have eyelike holes in their upper facial region along with mouths ranging from horizontal slits, triangular flaps, and filtered grill-like ones.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Enoki will form groups that will travel to known battlefields and forgotten graveyards to dig up and retrieve bodies. Those closer to inhabited settlements will observe the customs of the locals and attempt to barter for corpses.
