The Material Plane

The Material Plane is the space that most mortals exist in by default. It is here that the gods wage their wars, create new worlds, and extinguish their enemies; it is also the middle-ground between other planes of existence. This middle-ground situation often leads to other planes "leaking" or invading The Material Plane with great ease.

In The Material Plane, magic is more diluted and significantly harder to cast than if one were to originate from, and occupy, another plane. This is, in part, due to The Material Plane's sheer size compared to the other planes of existence. Where the other planes may be large, none are functionally infinite in size- nor anywhere close to such- which results in the magic present to be more concentrated.

The Material Plane operates predictably and consistently according to a wide array of "universal rules" established by The Lost Gods & Goddesses and further perverted by The Fallen Ones. This includes things like the laws of physics, chemistry, biology, etc... Everything- save for sentient beings' choices- in The Material Plane that originated there can, if one knew every rule of the universe, be accurately predicted with unwavering precision. While mortals have been hunting these rules down for nearly their entire existence, their models and predictions are wildly inaccurate and incomplete; leading to inconsistencies and contradictions in some of their models. The gods and goddesses, however, have a perfect understanding of these rules which is the largest contributing factor of their power over things.
