Mycelia

-"Unfathomably ancient, the Myceliae have been known to exist since before the earliest written records of the world. Legend says they predate dragons and even one of the Gods or Goddesses, though which one is unknowable; for even if it were known, the Myceliae likely wouldn't tell. This race of beings are a tricky bunch to describe, their form changes vastly from individual to individual; from large & colourful caps to relatively small surface bodies with wide-spread networks of subterrarian mycelium. One thing that's certain is that they take on the form of various fungi & moulds and typically spend most of their time deep underground. It's uncertain if the myceliae got sentience via the Gods & Goddesses, or if they simply consumed it from the things that died near them. It's said that if you were to 'truly' 'kill' one, their corpse would just spread their spores into the wind to grow into new Myceliae." -Race Description from The World of Idoria TTRPG

-Ancient fungaloids, the myceliae are a rare sight to see in Idoria and one whose presence is known to suffocate the weak with fear.

-Just like normal fungi one would find in their week-old bread, the myceliae are more than what one may see on the surface. For below the soil spreads their mycelium, root-like structures that keep spreading in search of food. Most scholars believe that the mycelium can be magnitudes larger than the shape that is seldom seen skulking about on the surface.

-Seemingly immortal, any attempt at killing one either releases spores that spread the ancient beings around, allowing them to cheat death, or results in them standing back up after a moment as if nothing ever happened. It is heavily debated whether or not this is just a normal fungi behavior on a larger scale or if the myceliae have once devoured a god. No one's brave enough to check or cunning enough to get the information out of them; as it seems the myceliae have a collective intelligence of not only themselves, but of all things, living or otherwise, they have consumed.

-Myceliae don't express sexual dimorphism, as far as scholars have been able to tell. As no two myceliae look alike beyond the vague "it looks like a walking mushroom or other fungus" description. It is known, however, that there exists at least thirty-five genders amongst the myceliae, though to go into more details about how that was discovered would likely bore the sun to sleep.

-It's agreed by virtually everyone that they reproduce via their spores, be it from being 'killed' or just naturally letting them off, but admittedly, no one dares investigate that claim out of fear of being wrong.
