The Judicators

"Do you forsake your afterlife in pursuit of justice?"   "I do"   "Will you uphold the law to do what is right, no matter what it asks of you?"   "I will"   "Lastly, if it is asked of you, will you be willing to lay down your life in the name of justice?"   "Of course."   "Then rise and join the ranks of the judicators. You are number four hundred and seventy. May the path guide you in the future."   The judicators wear a purple cloak, with dyes unique to the southeast region of Drask, although it is unclear exactly where this tradition began, it has become associated with them to the point that some call them Purps because of the color of the cloak.

Structure

The head of the judicators is the High Judicator, who is chosen at every summit of the high priests or by the current head of divinism if the old one is for some reason unable to complete their function. There are seven different ranks of judicator, including the High Judicator. The lowest is apprentice, and not technically part of the hierarchy as of yet. They are assigned to or recruited by a working judicator of third rank or above. The laws are debated and transformed by those of 6th and 7th rank, while 2-5 are tasked with enforcement. Laws are set up at the decennial summit, but can be changed by the judicators if need be. There must be an approval from the acting head of religion for these changes to proceed, however.

Public Agenda

Enforce and uphold the law.

Assets

Close to 600 total judicators, as well as several buildings in major cities across the continent. The monetary assets are decided in the budget at the summit.

History

As the church grew in power, it was clear that they needed someone to enforce laws upon the land, so no atrocities such as the Seraph civil war could ever occur again. Thus, the judicators were created to exact justice across borders, and even affecting monarchs. Initially, they were treated much like assassins, enforcing their laws under the dead of night. Now, their executions are generally done in broad daylight with resigned participants.
