The Gemstones of Prach
There are special properties innate to some of the gemstones present on Prach. These properties allow the cognitive soul to change the energy state of the spiritual soul using the stones as a catalyst. This is seen as the most powerful magic due to its sheer versatility.
The principles behind this are derived from 3 steps, all of which utilizing the cognitive and spiritual soul.
1. Conceptualization
2. Actualization
3. Alteration/Creation/Ideation
Conceptualization:
The first step to doing anything with gems. The gems store the concept of something. Like the color blue, or time, or strength even. To conceptualize an idea, you need to define it. Say you are trying to define blue. You might define it with the color of the sky. However, the sky is not always blue, and this is a very bad concept. So, you might say the color of the sky on a clear day at noon. But that might still vary in color based on time of year, humidity, or relative pressure, but it is a much more defined idea than “the color of the sky”. You could further define what blue is with more examples, such as deep water or tulips, or sapphires, etc.
Actualization:
After an idea is defined, it can be actualized into storage. With the color blue, sticking into a colorstone (opal) is the best bet, as they are mostly lossless with color. To actualize an idea, you must use some of your spiritual soul to hold the conceptualization in the stone. For most concepts, this is relatively minimal. In general, think of this like saving a file to the hard disk of a computer.
Alteration/Creation:
Now that your conceptualization is actualized, it is now possible to do stuff with it. Say you want to make something the color blue with your actualized blue. This is creation. It is like creating a paint of blue and putting it on. Alteration is slightly more nuanced. The color blue is not a great example of this, but it would be similar to changing a color blue within the bounds that you have set. Like changing the sky to a hue similar to the deep ocean (note: this would take more soul than anyone really has, so nobody is changing the color of the sky). Both of these actions take spiritual soul as well. Alteration takes much less in comparison to creation however, as such, it might be better to use more spiritual soul initially on the actualization step to define “color” and use alteration instead of creation to change things around. (it would be a lot more versatile than just the color blue as well.)
Ideation:
What happens if you store something completely made up? Something that cannot be defined by things that already exist. This is the conundrum of ideation. The draw is making imagination a reality. Anything you dream of could be real. Even made up things can be defined by reality, so the initial definition in here isn’t exactly correct. Sticking with the example of colors, say you want to create a color that doesn’t exist yet. You would define it by being “not blue”, “not red”, but similar to gold, but in a more orange way than yellow. You have to dodge around what you actually want by saying things that it is almost, but not quite. This generally uses a lot more spiritual soul than normal conceptualization and creation both since it is a lot more loosely defined and less bounded by reality until its creation.
